Our History

1982

Magna Stainless began its journey in a modest 7,000 square foot facility in Pointe Claire, staffed by just three individuals, equipped with a pickup truck and a flatbed. Our initial focus was exclusively on the sale and distribution of stainless-steel bars.

1988

Magna Stainless began specializing in aluminum shapes and alloys.

1993

Within about five years, Magna Stainless relocated to a larger 25,000 sqft warehouse on Hymus, where we began selling stainless steel sheets and plates.

1999

Magna Stainless was rebranded as Magna Stainless and Aluminum, marking our expansion into a new 40,000 sqft facility on Côte de Liesse. This move initiated our venture into selling aluminum sheets and rods.

2004

After approximately five years, we transitioned to an even larger 60,000 sqft warehouse in Dorval, continuing our growth and expansion.

2007

Magna Stainless and Aluminum underwent a significant transformation by merging with the larger entity, Canadian Specialty Metals ULC. This strategic merger not only expanded our operational capabilities but also enhanced our product offerings and market reach. By joining forces, we have strengthened our position as a leading supplier of aluminum, stainless steel, aerospace, and specialty metals across North America.

2008

Magna Stainless and Aluminum div of CSM ULC moved to a much bigger and advanced facility of about 85000 sqft at Ville Saint Laurent.

2018

Magna Stainless and Aluminum significantly expanded its warehouse space to 145,000 sqft. This expansion was driven by the need to accommodate the growing inventory and to enhance operational efficiency. With this increased capacity, the company was able to better serve its customers, meet higher demand, and continue its commitment to providing high-quality stainless steel and aluminum products. The expanded space also provided room for future growth and the addition of new equipment and technologies to further improve production capabilities.

2020

We successfully installed a cutting-edge blanking line from Red Bud Industries in our Saint Laurent warehouse. This advanced equipment significantly enhanced our production capabilities, allowing us to deliver high-quality products more efficiently and meet the growing demands of our customers.

2025

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new manufacturing plant, Magna Aluminum Profile, in Salaberry de Valleyfield. This state-of-the-art facility features North America's first fully electric aluminum extrusion line, a ground-breaking achievement that sets a new standard in the industry.

Carbon and energy savings are made possible by Zero-Pollution Energy (ZPE) billet heating systems. This facility will be the first fully electric site in North America, achieving the greatest carbon emission savings in the aluminum extrusion industry. Approved and recognized by the Québec government, Magna Aluminum Profile will achieve remarkable energy savings, powered by renewable energy from Hydro-Québec’s hydroelectric plants. With a vision to revolutionize supply in the Canadian market, Magna Aluminum Profile will produce and distribute top-quality aluminum profiles through Canadian Specialty Metals’ distribution service centers.
